Learning through play
Aurora School

Aurora School offers a state-wide service to deaf and deafblind children and their families. Aurora provides a home based Early Intervention program, a school based Early Education long day program that includes Kinder and Prep, and individualised programs for deafblind children, and an inclusive Community Kindergarten for deaf and hearing children. Aurora School also offers a Community Learning Room that can be made available for providing learning and professional development opportunities.

Early Education

Aurora School Early Education offers support to deaf children from 3 years to prep grade, and their families in a centre based program. Our overall aim is to enable children to maximise their development, particularly their communication, in a safe and secure environment with the support of their teachers and the children who participate with them. We share knowledge and skills with families, provide support and promote  the understanding of hearing loss.

Early Intervention

Aurora School Early Intervention offers home based support to deaf children and their families prior to school entry. Our overall aim is to assist parents to identify their child’s strengths and needs and to help their child develop the language skills necessary to participate in family and community life.

We share knowledge and skills with families, provide support and help parents communicate with their child and encourage their development.

Community Kindergarten

Aurora School Community Kindergarten offers an inclusive, supportive, play-based program for local hearing and deaf/hearing impaired children. The Community Kindergarten provides both 4 year old and 3 year old sessional programs and is based on the philosophy of instilling and strengthening children’s sense of belonging and personal self-esteem. Enrolment is via the Whitehorse Preschool Associations Central Application Scheme.
